Presented by Health First, the 8th Annual Florida Today Corporate 5K was held on Thursday, April 19 to benefit the United Way of Brevard. More than 2,000 people participated in the event this year, representing 83 different corporate teams across the county. Held at the Orlando Melbourne International Airport, the event featured live music and a variety of food trucks. Alluvionic participated in the event for the first time this year and placed 20th out of 35 teams in the small company category (1-99 employees)!
“We were so excited to participate in the Florida Today Corporate 5K this year. It was a great way to build camaraderie and get healthy, while supporting our community. It was exciting to run on the runway and be part of such a large community effort. We look forward to participating again next year,” says Wendy Romeu, president of Alluvionic.
The Florida Today Corporate 5K is one of the most unique office parties around and celebrates aviation at the largest outdoor office party in Brevard County. The concept around the event is to bring businesses from the community together to “strut your corporate colors” and raise money to help the United Way of Brevard, while having fun with co-workers, family and friends. After taking a one-year hiatus from the airport, the run returned this year and included the highlight of allowing runners to run on the runway near the Florida Institute of Technology terminal.
